Title: A Note on Jesus, dreams and my irrational fear of Barack Obama

Blog Entry: I have been having very odd dreams of late. A select few of you know the one about the Titans breaking out of their prison and singing "Mr. Cellophane" in harmony. Yeah, that was weird, but not the kind I'm talking about. Last night I had a dream about likely democratic presidential nominee barack obama. And it was a very disturbing dream. The kind where you wake up in a cold sweat in the bottom of the ocean. What ended up happening was obama and i debated and then he threatened me. Yeah. It would have been more in character if the candidate I was debating with was Hillary. I came to realize that in the past, no other presidential nominee has ever scared me. Yet, the thought of obama becoming president makes me want to throw up. Not for the fact that i'd be disgusted, but out of sheer terror. I'm actually, ligitly, scared of this guy. That explains the threat in my dream. But also in my dream, I was tape recording his threats. So what could this mean? That I'm scared, but not scared enough to give up and hide? That I'm still willing to try and beat it? Probably. Why am I scared of "the man who has brought hope to America"? Many reasons. But let me clear something up. I'm not one of those people who goes around bashing you because you have a certain name. I know alot of people are freaked out because he was brought up Muslim and has muslim names. I lived in a muslim country for two years, and obama's name origin should just be left alone. Grow up, people. No, I'm scared of him for a different reason. But the following is not it. The following is actually something pulled off a debate forum that I think sums up obama's view on the war and healthcare pretty good... "Barack Obama… He has electrified the youth of America along with many in the Democratic Party and some in the Republican Party. He is an amazing orator who’s speeches can give goose-bumps, whether for positive reasons or negative reasons. He is the first black to have a real shot at becoming president, which speaks greatly to how the country has progressed in race relations in the past decades. But the question still remains: Is Obama president worthy material? My opinion is that he is not. His speeches are often meaningless even if people like them. He spouts off the word change so many times but I’m still left at the end wondering what that change is. He keeps it vague so people will think it’s the change they desire, so in essence he’s manipulating people (just like what those corrupted politicians in Washington DC do! Gasp!). As I said before, he’s an orator who keeps his stances vague and the stupid eat it up. There are only two issues that I know for sure what his convictions are, and I’ll discuss both of them… On Iraq: He’s for immediate withdrawal from Iraq. Either he believes such a pullout is like a magic reset button to the days before George W. Bush and that absolutely nothing negative will happen, or he simply does not care of the catastrophe that awaits our departure from the nation. I myself am still torn on whether it was a mistake or not to invade Iraq. The removal of Saddam Hussein who, in my opinion, was the contemporary Adolf Hitler with the Ba’ath Party being the Arab equivalent of Nazism was extremely good… But to invade a nation because a dictator rules it is idiotic for why do we not invade every nation with similar problems? As I said, I am torn… But we are well past the argument of whether it was right or not to go in. We’re there and we must do everything we can to make sure the nation becomes stable. The removal of Hussein brought about old animosities compiled with new ones. Much like the former Yugoslavia, once the iron fist of the tyrant is gone there is a lack of what unified all the diverse groups that make up the country: Fear. Once the fear was gone the ethnic and religious groups vied for power, settling old scores, getting revenge for what the dominant group did to the others while in power. We failed to hold Yugoslavia together (though, to be honest, it’s difficult to hold a country together after it collapses), but we can still keep Iraq together. If we were to pull out now, the country would fall apart. Civil war would erupt. Genocide would become rampant. The Sunnis would be backed by Saudi Arabia and [possibly] Syria, the Shi’ites backed by Iran. The Kurds would most likely try to stay out of the war, but they’d just become a target of Turkey, which is fearful of any independent Kurdish nation. Dissolution, death, two puppet states, a target, more tyrants. This is what awaits Iraq if we were to pull out before they are fully ready. Building nations does not happen in five years. It takes, in the least, a decade, plus or minus two or so years… this being the time many military and civil experts say. They need only point to Japan and West Germany following World War 2. Look at these nations now. Where some of the worst dictators ever to haunt the world led, flourishing democracies flourish now with powerful economies and respect for such accomplishments worldwide. If we left these nations too soon, especially with Japan, we would have seen more of the same that we saw prior and during World War 2. As for the political solution everyone desires, the current situation on the ground is providing the groundwork for such. The Surge has provided a greater amount of civil order and security, both of which are needed for a stable government. This is so for both of these things provide confidence in the government from the people, which as anyone should know is the bedrock of any government, and gives the breathing room for the many factions to come together and come up with solutions without fear. Of course, I’d like to see a government and system of voting for federal parties like there is in the Republic of Somaliland (no, not Somalia… Somaliland is a separatist state in northern Somalia) where 30% support in a majority of the regions is needed, which provides parties that have national and not regional/religious/ethnic/tribal allegiances since it is difficult for such when it is required to have support in every area. I contacted the McCain camp about this a while ago, but unsurprisingly no response yet. Can’t blame them though… busy after all. In conclusion, Obama’s stance on Iraq is foolish. On Health Care: I won’t make this as long as my Iraq one… Obama supports more federal control on this sector. This perplexes me greatly for the signs of rapid decay in countries that have a great amount of federal control on this sector are rapidly going bankrupt or are being forced to increase taxes dramatically. Likewise, the health systems in these countries are often overloaded, have poorly paid doctors (who, especially with Canada, are moving en masse to the United States), and wait lists for simple surgeries that are so abysmal that some of the patients die simply because they had to wait so long to get required operations. Look, I know that our system isn’t perfect. Far from it. We have problems that need to be dealt with badly, but the solution of Obama simply doesn’t work. Just look at Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, etc, for proof."... ENDQUOTE... So obviously Obama is not cut out for this job. Yeah yeah yeah, neither is Hillary, but i'm not scared of her at all. I think my fear developed after watching this: http://www.eyeblast.tv/Public/Video.aspx?rsrcID=2036 So after watching that video, I realized that this candidate was more than just a good speaker with no idea what he's doing. This guy has heroes. He's got something to aspire to. But as you can see, the heroes he chooses are not exactly Abraham Lincoln or Ghandi. So the likely democratic candidate is inspired by rebels, communists, and reverend who clearly does not fear the Lord. Kind of weird, i know. I thought reverends were supposed to be...well, reverend? Obviously obama should have done his research. And if he had at least the IQ of a toaster, he has done his research. Meaning obama knows exactly what these guys are about. So now I no longer fear a single man, but an idea. A man who may very well become the leader of the free world that follows these ideas is a scary thought. If anyone has seen "V for Vendetta"..."Under this mask is an idea. And ideas are bulletproof." There is only one thing to do. Stop worrying. Put my trust in the Lord. I see everyone around me falling for Obama. And I know it will only be a matter of time before I have to face it. But when I do, I'll be ready. That brings me to my second dream. I was in a large classroom, with hundreds of students. The teacher was talking about Jesus, and how the Bible did get some things right (such as thou shalt not kill or thou shalt not steal), but it was set for a different time, and therefore does not apply today (in regards to things such as gay marriage). He said, "Jesus says gay marriage is wrong, but it also says that slavery is good. Obviously these things dont apply to our time." And in my dream, out of hundreds of students, i dared to speak up. This is pretty much it in a nutshell: Jesus never said slavery was good, he NEVER ADDRESSED IT for the fact that yes, it was a different time. I think what you are talking about is the Old Testament. We dont do all those rituals anymore because Jesus came in the New Testament and set us free from everything. Now we are no longer bound by sacrifices, because he gave the ultimate sacrifice for us. However, Jesus DOES mention that same sex intercourse is against God. You really cant get much more blatant. Besides, who are we to pick and choose out of the Bible? We cant just go around taking what we want from the Bible and leaving the rest out. Who KNOWS what we could get wrong! And if you do believe that Jesus is the Son of God, you know that this means He is perfect. Therefore, he cannot lie. Here's another thought. You don't believe Jesus is the Son of God, but you think he got SOME things right: Love your neighbor as yourself was a revolutionary idea back in those times. ABSOLUTELY revolutionary. We can all agree now that its a good idea that we follow that (otherwise, we'd probably all be extinct). Youre willing to believe that this man came up with that idea ALL BY HIMSELF without any meditation (since Jesus was a carpenter and therefore had ZERO time to sit down and have a think), but youre not willing to believe this man's FUNDAMENTAL message was the truth? By the way, the fundamental message was that He is the Son of God, sent to redeem us all. If you didnt catch that on the first go. Lets recap. Jesus = revolutionary without a proper education/time to think. Right idea? I think so Raving lunatic with a revolutionary idea? Not very likely. We can scratch that. Jesus = Son of God? makes sense, seeing as we believe his messages, it only makes sense that his biggest and most important message is true. Dont get this analysis mixed up by adding other people as Jesus. Keep in mind the Old Testament has thousands of prophesies about the Son of God. As in, it'd be more likely for you to fill up the great state of Texas with quarters a foot deep, mark an X on one quarter, mix em all up, and pull out that Xed quarter on the first go than for all of those prophesies to be fulfilled in one man. Hey, I didnt make it up. Seriously, I read it somewhere. Its a statistic. Kinda cool though. Well, my dream ended up with me getting kicked out of the class, being sent to the dean, and the dean telling me i shouldnt give my opinion. Well, I said, "Alright, thank you for your troubles, no worries, and you'll be hearing from my lawyer in the next 24 hours." All these dreams being put together has made me to stop fearing this man called Barack Obama. I can even say I am nearly to the point where I don't fear the idea. Because I know everything I believe. And I know WHY I believe it. And I'm not afraid to stand up and take the heat. And thats all that really matters. Bring on Obama.
